Foothills Taekwon-Do

Foothills Taekwon-Do Club Information

Foothills Taekwon-Do is located at the Whitlock Recreation Center on Colfax Ave and Dover St in Lakewood, CO. It was originally located in the basement of the Carmody/Foothills Recreation Center. The instructors have been teaching women and men and children of all ages for over 40 years. The club has been under the helm of Master Dennis Swan since 2003.

The Foothills mascot, "Froggy," was created by one of our students and has evolved from a simple drawing to the club patch and a stuffed mascot who occasionally traveled to tournaments until he retired in 2002. Froggy is internationally recognized and the students have competed in National, Internation and "World-Class" competition. Several Gold, Silver and Bronze medals have been awarded from all across the globe to decorate the halls.

In 2006, Foothills was able to reinstitute a training program through Shiloh House. This is a residential program that helps young people become mature, responsible, and confident in their abilities. Initially started in 1990, the Taekwon-Do program has seen various young boys and girls learn self-confidence, responsibility and personal strength. Now the Shiloh TKD program has classes for all of the Shiloh campuses.

Foothills TKD and the instructors have touched many lives throughout the world. It is with the practice, training and dedication to uphold the student oath (and tenets) that create and maintain these connections in the hope to build a more peaceful world.
