Foothills Taekwon-Do
Welcome to the Foothills TKD website.
Taekwondo is the Korean art and practice of kicking and punching. Foothills Taekwon-Do has been teaching the traditional form of Taekwon-Do since the late 70's. The instructors have changed over that time, however, the dedication to keep tradition alive has not. Foothills is a USTF School. It was affiliated with General Choi Hong Hi, the creator and founder of Tae Kwon Do until he passed away in 2002. The students practice Chang Hong style patterns (the classic 24 patterns honoring the history and politics of Korea), including the Pattern Ko-Dang, which was removed from the encyclopedia in the 80's.
Master Dale Burkhart, the third instructor at Foothills, and the Head instructor for the Shiloh Home for boys was promoted to VIII Dan Black Belt on March 28, 2009. The current Head Instructor for Foothills, Master Dennis Swan, a VII Dan Black Belt, has been teaching and training with Master Burkhart and Foothills since he started. He will be promoted to VIII Dan Black Belt in the fall, 2011. Foothills instructors and students are world renowned for their abilities and rewards in sparring, breaking, patterns and self-defense.
